The First-Eidsvold Parish
First Lutheran Church of Karlstad and Eidsvold Lutheran Church of Halma

Eidsvold Cemetery Rules

Only a few rules have been adopted by the congregation for the cemetery which are listed below.  The cemetery has been operated by cooperation and consensus by the members of the congregation.  When necessary, issues are referred to the church council or the annual meeting of the congregation.

1) All flowers and ornaments must be in line with the monuments so that the grass can be mowed more easily.  Anything placed directly on the graves or at the foot of the graves will be removed.

2) All artificial flowers must be removed by July 15 each year.  Living plants and flowers may remain until freeze up.  Please help maintain the beauty of the cemetery by removing flowers once they wilt or freeze.

Eidsvold Cemetery Map

The Eidsvold Cemetery is owned and operated by Eidsvold Lutheran Church of Halma and located on Kittson County Road 20 one and one half miles south of the church.  It is divided into three sections divided by the two driveways.  The three sections are: north, middle and south.  Graves are numbered in each section by rows from west to east and by graves from south to north.  The map located in the shelter at the cemetery is updated just before Memorial Day each year.  A map of the cemetery is also posted in the overflow room at Eidsvold Lutheran Church, which is updated more frequently.  The maps identify graves that are occupied by a body or ashes, and graves of a living person whose name is already on a tombstone in the cemetery.

"Holy God, by the death and burial of Jesus your anointed, you have destroyed the power of death and made holy the resting places of all your people...."   (Committal Service in Evangelical Lutheran Worship page 284)
