Anniversary Letters

from Paul Koch

Dear Brothers and Sisters at Eidsvold Lutheran Church,

Greetings in Christ from the Wannaska Lutheran Parish!

I just read your congregaion's history, and what a history! Fires, controversies, population booms and busts... and through it all God has been faithful.

Two of our parish congregations have celebrated their centennials, Riverside in 2001 and Pine Grove in 2008.  You've got a good head start on us.  The theme of Pine Grove's centennial was Psalm 90: "Lord, you have been our refuge from one generation to another."  That verse provides wonderfu reassurance.  Throughout our congregations' histories and into the future, we know that the Lord will be taking care of us.  He has redeemed us from sin and death, and he will give us forgiveness and eternal life, no matter what comes.

I just returned from Lake of the Woods Bible Camp, where the name of one of your former pastors now adorns a cabin ("Camp Kluver," I believe it's called).  That's a small token of the many ways your congregation has left a legacy.  The best legacy is all the souls who have passed through your doors and heard the gospel.  Your current pastor, Gary Halverson, is a friend and an excellent colleague.  I thank God that the gospel continues to be preached in your congregation.

God's blessings to you on this day and into the future!

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Paul Koch, Pastor of the Wannaska Lutheran Parish, Dean of the LaRoKi Conference 2007-2010
