The Eidsvold WELCA is again assembling health kits for Lutheran World Relief in response to the call for them because of the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile.Here’s what’s in each one.
·One hand towel, dark color recommended
·One washcloth, dark color recommended
·One bath-size bar (4 to 5 oz.) of soap, any brand, in its original wrapping
·One adult-size toothbrush in its original packaging
·One sturdy comb, remove packaging
·One metal nail file or nail clippers with file attached, remove packaging (do not substitute cardboard emery boards for the file)
·Six Band-Aids® (or similar brand), preferably 1/2" to 3/4"; secure together with a rubber band

High School seniors: if you are planning to attend a Lutheran college, get a synod WELCA scholarship application from WELCA president Eldonna Grahn. The deadline for applications is May 1. Past recipients from our parish are Emma Halverson and Spencer Knutson at Augustana College and Concordia College respectively.

The next Bible study will be on Thursday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. on Romans 12 as we continue working our way through the Epistle to the Romans. This month's study is called "The Renewing of our Minds." There is no general meeting. There was an error in the 2010 yearbook.
The Faith Circle meets at The Meadows on Friday, March 26, at 2:00 p.m. for the same Bible study.
Thank you to the mission action co-chairwomen, Eleanor Dahlin and Emojean Anderson, and to all the women who quilted in January and February for Lutheran World Relief. With the devastating earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, the need this year is greater than ever. A sampling of the quilts were displayed on February 14 at morning worship and a prayer of dedication was offered for all the quilts we will send away.

The Eidsvold Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA met on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at President Ruth S. opened the meeting with the reading of the purpose statement.Devotions were read by Alpha S. on “What We Can Do.”Pastor H. led the Bible study on Romans 9-11 “Does God Keep Promises?”
The table grace was prayed and lunch was served by Lela Spilde.
There was no secretary’s report.January’s meeting was cancelled due to weather.Secretary Alpha S. reported $2,664.52 in the bank.Joydis F. read correspondence: Christmas thank you notes from Pastor & Ruth, Julia Kleven, Charlie Hayek, and Clifford Davis.75th birthday gift certificate thank you note from Joan Olson.
There was no old business.New business was a discussion of assembling health kits for Lutheran World Relief in light of the great need now due to the Haiti earthquake.The WELCA decided to try to do it (see below).Joydis F. announced we are saving stamps again and combining them with First’s to be sent off.There was a wide ranging discussion of Eidsvold’s 125th anniversary in 2011.Noted was a desire for a musical program in the afternoon, a summer date, and early notification of people who live far away.
Mission Action reported supplies are in for quilting but there has been no quilting lately in the severe cold.Six quilts were sold in December.Mission Community reported that get well cards were sent to Ruth Swenson, Lynne Jacobson, Ruth Green, and Doris Molvik.
The next meeting will be on March 18 at with devotions by Helen R., lunch by Ruth S., and Bible study by Pastor.The meeting adjourned with the Lord’s Prayer.
